Overnight French Toast

Perfect for a busy morning during the holidays! This can be made the day before so it’s ready to put in the oven first thing in the morning.

Ingredients

  • 7 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 T. vanilla
  • 1 10-oz. loaf French or Italian bread, no seeds
  • 2 T. margarine, cut in small pieces

Directions

Grease a 9 x 13 x 2″ baking pan. In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, salt and vanilla together. Cut bread into 1″ thick slices and arrange in a single layer in pan. Try to cover as much of the bottom of the pan as possible. Pour egg mixture over bread. Cover and refrigerate 4 to 36 hours. Uncover, dot with margarine and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 to 50 minutes until bread is puffy and golden brown. Serve with syrup or fresh fruit. Serves 6 to 8.

A Titanic Marketing Challenge

Sometimes your mind grabs onto an idea (or a really annoying song lyric) and won’t let it go. That happened to me this week when I was reading an article by marketing consultant Bob Martel. He suggested evaluating your sales and marketing strategy to ensure you aren’t just “rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.”

That phrase keeps popping into my head, and the more I think about it, the more I realize how apt the analogy really is. Right now, we are navigating through some treacherous economic waters. The moves we make in our marketing strategies can either be futile efforts or smart adjustments in direction that keep our businesses safely moving forward.

How are you planning to change your marketing to accomodate today’s challenges?
