Well I took another online class and you get to hear about it. This class was another in a series from Inbound Marketing University.
This is why everything is focused on the web:
- Daily Newspaper Circulation: 48.4 million
- 285 million watch TV monthly
- 14 billion core searches monthly
Need I say more? Having a site that gets good ranking is a critical element of your marketing mix. There are three thinks that are important when optimizing your site:
Keywords: What are your customers and prospects using to find what you sell??
Built to be search friendly: If you have a Flash site, you are invisible to search engines. Title tags, canonical navigation, internal links, html and xml site maps, alt atags for images all make you more visible to search engines. It also helps if you have a system for new content (blog) to keep that content fresh!
Link Building: Getting links from other sites into your site is important. Create content that is worth valuable and traffic will start to come. Use social networking, PR, email, and the kitchen sink to direct people to the content that will help them.

I am taking a series on online classes on inbound marketing and wanted to share several blog tips with you. We all want to do a better job, right? These pointers will make your blog more effective.
1. Write about what your customers want to hear about. They really don’t want just the blah blah about your business. They want content that will help them! For us, our customers want communications help that creates more prospects and a way to convert them into customers (blogs are great for this).
2. Keep your blog formatting simple. Two column formats seem to work best. Most of the page is for the posts and a sidebar is for additional helpful info.
3. Blog regularly. Google loves fresh content, period. This is one I am working on as well. Creating a regular time for your blog entries seems to be the key.
There is much more in the video that features the fine folks from Marketing Profs. Check it out.

The hottest news out of Toyfair is Puppy Tweets. The digital “dog tag” attaches to your dog’s collar and he will be able to send random tweets based on sound and motion. My dog, Buckeye doesn’t move much during the day, so I will probably pass. If Buckeye really could tweet, his messages would probably be centered around food, where it is, when he can get more. He may also rant about the mailman. He hates the mailman. That would be about it.
If this isn’t a signal that social media is hot, I don’t know what is. For more info…http://bit.ly/cWQ9gP

We are being overwhelmed with marketing messages every day.
Online it’s a battle for top of mind recognition. There is an explosion of brands and we have to make split second decisions to get through search results. Getting placement helps but if your logo and your site look cheap…your value drops and so do your prospects. Also
A STRONG logo is one of the best values in your marketing mix. It’s an instant way to remind your customers and prospects who you are. Also, as you bust your butt making your business succeed, your brand and your logo will be worth more $$$.

Why should you care? Internet Explorer 6 or IE6 has been a nightmare for web developers since it was introduced. This is adding cost to your Web site maintenance and development and limiting what you can do online. IE6 also has flaws that make you and your company vulnerable to cyber-attacks! Check your browser and upgrade to the latest version. It’s worth it. More from CNET.
